Movie Review: Sing 2 Will Have You Singing Along in No Time
What do you get when you combine classic karaoke tunes with high-quality animation and an unexpected storyline? One of the best family movies of the year, that’s what! It’s safe to say that Sing 2 could have some serious awards potential, and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here. If you have any kids in your life, make sure to show them this movie before the summer is over!
Production Value
After taking a look at the stats and doing some research I found out..The cast, voice actors, and production value are all very well done. The animation is stunning and fits with the fun and upbeat nature of a musical. Not much more to say about it other than that... It’s really, really good! 9.5/10
Soundtrack and Songs
The songs and soundtrack in Sing 2 are very similar to its prequel, with a few new songs added. My favorite song is "a sky full of stars" By Coldplay. It’s dreamy, imaginative, sleepy, soft, and bands, sewing the audience's hidden talent together with a thread of string.
Music Score and Background Music
Unfortunately, there’s not much to say about a movie’s musical score and background music. The reason? In a lot of cases, you don’t notice them! But at other times, they can be so loud and chaotic that they drown out everything else in an entire scene—we’re looking at you, Citizen Kane. However, most viewers aren’t trained film critics who spend all day watching and analyzing films.
Humor Section
Illumination's animated musical Sing was one of those movies that impressed critics and entertained children. Now, Universal and Illumination bonding and/or working together once more, have released a sequel, Sing 2, which is every bit as good as its predecessor. The film follows our favorite animal singers from part 1 and also includes a few new additions like a rapping dog and a choral frog. This original animation encourages participation for all ages through sing-along song numbers.
Did You Like It?
Yes, I did like it. There were some parts that could have been better such as character development and plot but overall it was a good movie, I would say at the end of the day it is worth the watch and a couple of extra bucks for tickets, popcorn, sodas/drinks, and snacks.
Final Thoughts
Even though I wasn't able to check out an early screening of Sing 2 (unlike my other funfilled movie walkthroughs with wonderous 3D, Imax, Imax Enhanced, and snacks), I still can confidently say that it is going to be a huge hit with the moviegoers. Packed with humor, heartwarming moments, and upbeat songs. The children’s choir singing City of Stars will have you feeling chills down your spine. If you loved Sing, I highly recommend that you go see Sing 2! I recommend going with family members because .... Your kids will definitely want to see it more than once! Also, if you're a singing fan you will be even more than practically delighted!!
